SILS™ Port Trocar Insertion Device with Insufflation Line
Overview
The SILS™ Port device is an innovative solution for single-incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS™), a rapidly evolving minimally invasive surgical technique. Developed by COVIDIEN, the device, along with the ROTICULATOR™ series of articulating instruments, has advanced single-port access surgery.
SILS™ surgery provides improved cosmetic outcomes via a transumbilical approach, reduces postoperative pain, and accelerates patient recovery. Its effectiveness has been demonstrated across multiple surgical specialties.
Device Description
The COVIDIEN SILS™ Port is an elastomeric device featuring three working channels for the insertion of laparoscopes and surgical instruments. Its flexible material allows free maneuverability within the operative field. The device can be inserted through a 2–2.5 cm umbilical incision, leaving a nearly invisible postoperative scar, while still permitting the extraction of medium-sized specimens.
ROTIСULATOR™ Instruments
The ROTICULATOR™ series addresses key limitations of single-port surgery, including instrument collisions and limited triangulation. These articulating instruments can bend between 0 and 80 degrees, providing an optimal attack angle and improved visualization within the surgical site. The ROTICULATOR™ line continues to expand, including SILS™-specific tools and the SILS Stitch™ suturing device. Extended instrument lengths of 36 and 46 cm further minimize handle collisions during procedures.
