Computerized System for Spatial Registration of Spinous Processes and Other Bony Landmarks "Scanner" according to TU 9442-020-42882497-2006

Overview

The "Scanner" computerized system is designed for high-precision 3D diagnostics of the musculoskeletal system. It enables accurate determination of the coordinates of examined points and complex curves of the human body without the use of consumables, thanks to the unique 3D probe design.

Advantages

  • Registration of any parts of the human body.
  • High measurement accuracy due to the 3D probe construction.
  • Ability to study functional positions: flexion, inclinations, rotation, traction, etc.
  • Recording of individual points as well as complex curves.
  • Non-invasive procedure without consumables.
  • No special room required.
  • Short examination time — from 2 minutes.
  • Mobile and easy-to-use system.
  • Intuitive software with ready-made protocols and option to create custom methods.

Purpose

The "Scanner" system is used for:

  • Diagnosis of musculoskeletal disorders, particularly of the spine.
  • Registration of spatial position of the spine.
  • Assessment of the pelvis and shoulder girdle.
  • Examination of lower limbs and other body segments.

Applications

  • Orthopedics and traumatology
  • Vertebroneurology
  • Manual therapy
  • Osteopathy
  • Neurology
  • Therapeutic exercise
  • Physiotherapy
  • Prosthetics and orthotics
  • Related medical specialties

Technical Description

The system is based on a three-dimensional mechano-opto-electronic scanner. The probe consists of three rods connected by five precision angle sensors. Coordinates of the probe tip are calculated using trigonometric equations based on rod lengths and angles. A button on the probe allows recording individual points (short press) or continuous curves (long press).

Examination Process

  • Patient data input into the database.
  • Selection of patient position.
  • Sequential scanning by touching anatomical points.
  • Measurement of pelvis and shoulder girdle.
  • Probe tracing along spinous processes from the skull base to L5.

The procedure generates a 3D model of the spine, pelvis, and shoulder girdle. Examination in a single position takes no more than 3 minutes.

Components

  • Scanning device — 1 pc
  • Power supply — 1 pc
  • System cable — 1 pc
  • Personal computer — 1 pc
  • Software (CD) — 1 pc
